The Life of Women in Pakistan Will Not Be Improved
While under a Leadership that has an Atrocious Record on Women's Rights
In December this year, Pakistan's Senate passed two women's rights bills aimed at providing punishments for specific crimes against women and violations of their rights, as well as the law of the Prevention of Anti-Women Practices Bill 2008 establishes jail terms and financial punishments for those found guilty of certain anti-women cultural practices such as depriving them of their inheritance, forcing them into marriage... Proponents of these bills have faced years of struggle and significant resistance from Pakistan's backward political establishment in the path of calling for the realisation of these basic women's rights.

The Islamic Hizb ut-Tahrir is a political party, whose ideology is Islam. This party works in Russia. It calls to Islam, propagating the Islamic thoughts by means of discussions in society, by peaceful means exclusively. It is demanded by Islam. Allah ta’aala says in Qur’an, لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ "There is no compulsion in religion" [Surah al-Baqarah 2:256]

President Ali Abdullah Saleh met a delegation from the ‘Ulema’ Association of Yemen (comprised of their head and others) on 29th September, at the end of their conference in which they ‘crowned’ him and declared demonstrations to be haram. At the same place and on the same day, President Ali Saleh met with reporters from the Washington Post and Time Magazine, so that he could tell them, shamelessly, that “the constitution guarantees the right of expression and demonstration”; this was reported in the official government newspaper At-Thawrah (edition number 17125). Ali Saleh has thus denied that which the ‘Ulema’ Association of Yemen put together in their conference for his sake; and for which they made the effort to travel to tell him personally. So is what Saleh said to reporters for external consumption, and the announcement of the ‘Ulema’ Association for internal consumption? |

On September 24th, the Egyptian newspaper Liberation quoted Admiral Mike Mullen Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff saying that Egypt is committed to maintaining peace with Israel. He stated, while at a fundraising party organised on Wednesday (21st Sept.) for a Jewish primary school in Washington, “ In every conversation with my Egyptian counterparts, they always reassert – without my asking – that they want to retain the peace with Israel.” The US Defence Dept Media Office drew attention to his statement, and further made note that Mullen praised the Egyptian military leadership and the “self-restraint” it had shown towards the demonstrators who deposed President Mubarak, and that the longstanding relationship between the two military establishments remained strong and would contribute to supporting Egypt during this critical time. |
