Tulsi Gabbard is the US Director of National Intelligence, an umbrella body that oversees eighteen US security agencies including the CIA and FBI. On her three day visit to India, designed to deepen US-India relations, especially in matters of security cooperation, Gabbard spoke of the threats of Islamist terrorism and extremism emanating from Bangladesh as a primary source of instability in the region. Gabbard also warned of the people’s desire to live by Islamic rule, and invoked the fantasy of minority persecution too. Gabbard reiterated the U.S.’s position on the need to confront such threats, describing India as a critical partner in such efforts.

The response of the Interim Government was weak, shameful, and completely unrepresentative of the courageous Muslims of this nation.

This is the response the people of Bangladesh deserved:

  1. The Issue of Khilafah: The concept of Khilafah is central to Islam, and it resonates deeply with the people of Bangladesh because they love their Islam. Any attack on the Khilafah is an attack on Islam itself.
  2. US Hypocrisy on Terrorism: The United States speaking about terrorism is nothing short of mockery. The world has long recognised the US as the very embodiment of terrorism, with its unrelenting military aggression, foreign interference and active sponsorship of oppressive regimes. Its enabling of the genocide in Palestine is only the latest iteration.
  3. Islam and Terrorism – The Oldest US Propaganda: For over two decades, the United States has relentlessly sought to tie Islam to terrorism. Yet, despite their trillion-dollar War on Terror, the call for Islamic rule has only grown stronger, while their hollow calls for democracy are now barely heard in any corner of the Muslim world.
  4. Secularism and Democracy – Foreign Impositions: Secularism and democracy are not organic to Bangladesh; they were violently imposed under colonial rule. A pattern seen across the world, wherever colonialism has left its scars.
  5. Tools of Subjugation: Secularism and democracy are mere tools of subjugation. Western support seamlessly fluctuates between democracy or dictatorship, depending on which better serves their interests.
  6. US Arrogance in Dictating Bangladesh’s Future: The idea that the US can dictate what is acceptable for Bangladesh, while ignoring the actual demands of the Bangladeshi people, is as absurd as it is self-defeating. The overwhelming sentiment in Bangladesh is for Islam and the rejection of foreign-imposed ideals.
  7. US Hypocrisy on Minority Rights: The US playing the minority rights card is nothing but a farce. A nation with over 400 years of systemic racial oppression, where even the majority are now rising against capitalism, has no moral ground to lecture others.
  8. US Disregard for Bangladeshi Lives: The US does not invoke minority rights out of genuine concern for Bangladeshis. It is a tool they deploy selectively, only when it serves their geopolitical objectives. Their actions make it abundantly clear that they do not inherently value Bangladeshi lives or Muslim lives in general.
  9. The Minority Rights Narrative – A Proven Lie: The US’s invocation of minority rights is not only insincere but an outright lie. They are clearly confusing Bangladesh with India, the US’s current friendly tyrannical regime.
  10. The Shameful Submission of the Transitional Government: The current transitional government remains beholden to foreign powers, upon whom they depend, and from which they derive their legitimacy. Its response to US rhetoric has been weak, shameful, and completely unrepresentative of the courageous Muslims of this nation.

The interim government ironically echoes Hasina’s War on Terror rhetoric, legitimising it by assuring the US of Bangladesh’s commitment to combating “terrorism” and “extremism”. While exposing Hasina’s tyranny, they now invoke her unjust criminalisation of Muslims – glorifying it to prove Bangladesh’s anti-terror stance.

The fact Gabbard’s comments come during her visit to India is a reminder of the American-Indian desire to break Bangladesh and turn it into nothing more than a compliant vassal state in the region.

The struggle for true independence is far from over, and the people must continue to push forward. True sovereignty and dignity for Bangladesh can only be achieved through the establishment of Khilafah.
