Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia held a large rally today, 4 September 2016 in the capital Jakarta.
The rally was attended by several 10s of thousands and was centred around two main themes:
- With view to the upcoming regional elections, reiterating that a non-Muslim cannot be given authority over a Muslim, especially with reference to one of the candidates who is running for executive office;
- More generally, reiterating that Muslims in Indonesia must work towards establishing an Islamic system of government manifest in the Khilafah that uses the Qur’an and Sunnah as basis for all ahkam.
