Hizb ut-Tahrir Palestine held a snap demonstration in the city of Ramallah in the West Bank on Thursday 28 May 2015 as the Fatah-based Palestinian Authority cancelled activities on the 94th anniversary of the destruction of the Caliphate. The activities, which included a large Khilafah Conference that was due to be attended by several tens of thousands, were to be held in the city of Ramallah on Saturday the 23rd of May.

In the hastily arranged demonstration, a member of the Media Office of Hizb ut-Tahrir Palestine, Baher Saleh, addressed the gathering and sent a message to the Palestinian Authority, saying that “the Hizb has deep roots in Palestinian society, and branches that encompass many parts of the world. It would be futile for the (powerless) “Palestinian Authority” to attempt to stop its activities or tarnish its image on false premises of terrorism. The Hizb’s resolve will not be weakened due to the arrogance of the Palestinian Authority and by Israel and America’s leadership of it.”

The Palestinian Authority installed check-points in and around Ramallah to prevent the conference from going ahead. Among other things, the Conference would have marked the exclusive screening of a new documentary produced by Hizb ut-Tahrir, capturing the Muslims’ love for their prophet and their desire to live under the legacy of Prophethood, including and most importantly a Khilafah on the method of Prophethood. This video can be seen below.

The Palestinian Authority’s security forces also arrested 10 Hizb ut-Tahrir members across the West Bank, beating some of them severely during the arrests.
