Bishkek, February 26, Interfax - Kyrgyzstan's special services have detained five activists of the outlawed Hizb ut-Tahrir organization in the Issyk-Kul region in the north of the country, a spokesman for the Kyrgyz State National Security Service said on Friday. "Five citizens of Kyrgyzstan were functionaries of this banned organization active in the Tyup District of the Issyk-Kul region," the spokesman said. "A large number of copies of extremist literature were confiscated from them," he said. One more Hizb ut-Tahrir activist was detained in the city of Osh in the south of Kyrgyzstan, the spokesman said. "Materials promoting extremism were confiscated from him," he said.
