For immediate release – Hizb ut-Tahrir Australia yesterday held a public lecture in Melbourne on the topic of Palestine. The history of the conflict in Palestine was discussed as were the Islamic solutions, as the following points were articulated:

1.  ‘Israel’ was created, with British patronage, through the killing and forced expulsion of the inhabitants of Palestine. It is, at its essence, no more than a military occupation and as such is an illegitimate state.

2. The Islamic solution to any unjust military occupation is for that occupation to be repelled and reversed.

3. The Caliphate, which is the legitimate and proper body assigned with the implementation of Islam, and in turn, the repulsion and reversal of all those entities that stand in occupation of Muslim land, be it in Palestine, Chechnya, Kashmir, or elsewhere.

4. All Muslims around the world must work for the re-establishment of the Caliphate in the Muslim world, in its capacity, among other things, as the proper means to repel the invasions that stand in occupation of Muslim land.

5. Islam is a message directed to all humankind, without distinction of race or ethnicity. There is no room for anti-Semitism or another form of racism in Islam. In Palestine, Islam is in conflict with ‘Israelis’ not in their capacity as Jews but in their capacity as occupiers and aggressors. History is testament to the fact Jews were welcome in the Caliphate and lived harmoniously with Muslims and Christians for almost thirteen centuries. To equate opposition to Israel with anti-Semitism is disingenuous and untenable.
