Draconian Laws Deliver Injustice and Put Islam on Trial
Three Muslims from Melbourne were convicted in Victoria’s Supreme Court on Friday, 16 December 2011, of conspiring to plan a terrorist attack. Wissam Fattal, Saney Edow Aweys, and Nayef El Sayed were sentenced to 18 years jail. Justice Betty King emphasised in her sentencing remarks the “extremist views” of the accused whilst admitting the “amateurish” nature of their alleged plans.

Protest against Russian oppression of Muslims
Russian repression of Muslims within its territories has reached new levels of intensity and audacity. Russian security officials are targeting Muslims in general and members of Islamic groups such as Hizb ut-Tahrir in particular and subjecting them to extra-legal harassment, arrest, and torture. Occurring throughout Russia, these practices are most pronounced in the region of Bashkortostan.

Muslims in Australia reject Obama’s policy towards Muslim World
US President Barack Obama arrives in Canberra this afternoon for a 28-hr visit to Australia. In addressing the Federal Parliament and visiting Darwin tomorrow, he is expected to announce a renewed Asia-Pacific focus to US foreign policy, and to further military cooperation between Australia and the US. He will then travel to Indonesia to attend the East Asia Summit in Bali.

Jordanian Intelligence Services confiscate passport of member of Hizb ut Tahrir, Ismail al-Wahwah
Jordanian Intelligence Services have held the passport of Ismail al-Wahwah, a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Australia and an Australian citizen. His passport was confiscated at Amman International Airport on Thursday, 10/11/2011, as he returned to Jordon to visit family and friends after his Hajj pilgrimage.

The blood of soldiers is on the neck of the Australian Government
Three more Australian soldiers have been wounded in Afghanistan yesterday, following an incident less than a fortnight ago in which three were killed and seven injured. It also follows a surprise visit by the Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, to Afghanistan earlier this week.
