UpringsThe past twelve months have seen momentous events takes place in the Muslim World as the people broke the shackles of fear and stood up to remove decades old Western-backed tyrants.

Ben Ali, Mubarak and Gaddafi have all been purged and discarded into the dustbin of history. Bashar al-Assad and Abdullah Saleh are holding on by the thinnest of ropes, whilst the tyrants of Saudi Arabia and other oppressive regimes await their turn.

Community Protest - Russian Repression of Muslims

protest_at_russian_consulate_26112011Russian authorities have been oppressing Muslims for a long time. Both in the communist Soviet Union and the new Russia, Muslims have been directly targeted with repressive measures. Recently, this oppression has moved to target Muslims with extra-legal harassment and intimidation, in particular in the Russian city of Ufa, Bashkortostan. Under the pretext of fighting terrorism, Muslims have been tortured and even killed for their beliefs without any reason other than the fact they profess Islam.

This is absolutely unacceptable and we cannot remain silent. We must raise our voice to highlight this oppression and to support our brothers and sisters in Russia. Join us in this demonstration outside the Russian consulate to deliver a strong message against this oppression.
