The release of 200 Palestinian prisoners held captive and detained in Israeli priosons last month was met with great cheers of joy from the many family, relatives and friends awaiting their return. And rightfully so. Who wouldn't be joyous over such an occasion? Who wouldn't be joyous of been able to finally see, touch and hold a long lost husband, father, brother or nephew after such a seperation?
But the release of such prisoners always unearths a multitude of other questions. What about the other thousands of Palestinians still illegally being held in Israeli prisons? What about the thousands of other Palestinians whose wehereabout are still unknown till this day? What is the motive behind such a release? Of assurity it wasn't the PA's geniuine attempt to put their foot down against their illegal occupiers? Nor was it the PA's strategic dealing with the enemy to release their Muslim brothers or 'face the consequences'. Nor was it the PA's sense of duty towards their people to help ease the suffering of the many families. The release of our brothers in Islam by the occupiers of the Holy land was most likely part of a greater deal brokered by the PA and Israel (aka Britain/U.S and Israel). More likely than not, it would have been a small 'gesture of good will' required to be shown by Israel for the PA's further compromise and sell-out of the Holy Land of As-Shaam. Nor can we discount the US elections and the visit, just hours after, of US Secreatry of State, Rice to the area on her last leg of her peace mission and the US administration desperatation to show the public they are still concerned all the way til the end. No one can under estimate the emotion of such an auspicious occasion. But simultaneously, the bigger fact that needs to be exposed is, the brothers released from Israeli prison are in actual fact still in an Israeli prison, only this time it's called Gaza and the West Bank. For the reality on the ground is that Israel, this time help by our corrupt and treacherous rulers are now acting as the prison warden and guards of this 'open air prison'. Controlling the movement of all within, instituting curfews at will, controlling what comes in and out of these lands if at all anything/anyone is allowed in or out. Water and food, medicine and other neccessities of life are distributed or withheld at will. So back to the joys of the mothers and wives and sisters of all the prisoners released and the happiness the Muslims everywhere else felt for them at rejoining their fmaily. Let us, as an Ummah, work even harder at spreading this happiness this Ramadhan and re-unite the Muslims of Palestine with the rest of the Ummah. Of assurity this day will the the most joyous day for all Palestinians and all other Muslims world wide. Below: The lands constently being illegaly occupied by the Illegal state of Israel.
