Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh organised a roundtable discussion today titled ‘Current Political Crisis – Bangladesh in the Face of Uncertainty.’
Spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh, Mohiuddin Ahmed delivered the keynote speech and the discussion was chaired by Deputy Spokesman Kazi Murshedul Haque. The invited guests who participated in the discussion included – Brigadier General (Retd) A S M Hannan Shah, (advisor to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and former minister); Shafiul Alom, (chairperson of National Democratic Party); Mubaidur Rahman, (Associate Editor of Daily Inqilab); Amanullah Kabir, (former editor of Daily Amar Desh); Major (Retd) Akhtaruzzaman, (former MP, Bangladesh Nationalist Party); Sadeq Khan, (renowned columnist); Kazi Abul Khair, (general secretary of Muslim League); Mowlana Jafrullah Khan, (general secretary of Khilafat Movement); Mowlana Hemayet Uddin, (joint secretary of Islamic Constitution Movement); Mehedi Hasan Polash, (Associate Editor of Daily Inqilab); and Mustafa Tariqul Islam (Dhaka city general secretary of Islamic Unity Movement). In his speech Mohiuddin Ahmed said that de-politicization and de-Islamization has become the agenda of the post 1/11 government of Fakhruddin Ahmed. It is as clear as daylight that 1/11 was orchestrated to destroy any political process and to eradicate Islam from the country so that the imperialist control over the politics and economy of the country does not face any effective political resistance. Everyone remembers the movements of the foreign powers at the time of 1/11. The US ambassador at that time, Patricia Butenis and the British ambassador Anwar Chowdhury held regular meetings with political parties, government officials especially high ranking army officials including the army chief Moeen U Ahmed just days prior to 1/11. In the same manner we are now witnessing unrestricted interference in the affairs of the country by representatives of foreign powers and visiting foreign officials especially the British and the Americans. The issue which of grave concern for the people of the country is the unquestioning submissiveness of the former World Bank official Fakhruddin Ahmed to the dictates of the imperialist USA and Britain and the regional bully India.
Mohiuddin Ahmed said people of the country are politically aware and their emotions are attached to Islam. Therefore the de-politization and de-Islamization project of the imperialists is destined for failure. He added that for the past 37 years the people witnessed military rule and the so-called democratic rule, both of which failed to bring anything good for the people. The solutions which are being considered to the political uncertainty currently facing the country (such as national government, elected government, balance of power between the president and PM, formation of a national security council etc) are nothing but various permutations of democracy and military rule. Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh calls upon the people to: a) Resist foreign interference b) Reject the so-called democratic rule as well military rule; and c) Establish the Khilafah in accordance with the Qur’an and Sunnah.
