Sydney, Australia, 16th October 2008 – The Prime Minister came out with some high rhetoric last night at the National Press Club in Canberra declaring the ‘comprehensive failure of extreme capitalism’ in relation to the global financial crisis. Blaming greed and fear as the ‘twin evils’ that caused the crisis he vowed more regulation of executive remuneration. Evidently Kevin Rudd is painting a false picture both of causation and the reality of capitalism. |

In the Name of Allah, The Gracious, The Merciful
Sydney, Australia, 2nd September 2008 - It was been recently revealed that Australian troops in Afghanistan mistreated Muslim prisoners in Afghanistan arrested in April 2008 by locking them up in dog pens overnight. The details of the mistreatment of the 'suspected' Taliban prisoners have been disputed, yet the Defence Minister Joel Fitzgibbon has been quick to throw every possible excuse on the table in defence of the troops. Denial on the one hand and a plethora of excuses on the other is the sort of confused mess to be expected from the federal government - Labor or Liberal - given its record on such matters related to Muslims. |

Sydney, Australia, 1st August 2008 – As the extent of the bungled handling of the Dr. Haneef case last year becomes ever-clearer, it was revealed this week that Australia’s peak spy agency informed the previous Government that Dr. Haneef was not a security threat. ASIO has submitted that it ‘consistently’ advised the Howard Government and its agencies that it had no evidence linking Dr. Haneef to the British terror plot. Let alone not acting on the advice of its own spy agency, Kevin Andrews, the then Attorney-General who revoked Dr. Haneef’s visa, says he received no such advice. He evidently did not bother asking. |
