Hizb ut Tahrir Australia delegation protests the abduction, torture and incarceration of Callers for Khilafah at Pakistan Consulate

A delegation from Hizb ut Tahrir Australia, namely Uthman Badar, Ismail al-Wahwah and Haroon Bux, this morning presented a list of members of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Pakistan who have been abducted and interned by the Pakistan government on false charges.

The delegation was received by the Vice Consul-General Bushra Salam, who listened to the concerns raised. The delegation expressed its condemnation of this oppression on part of the Pakistani regime. She was handed a letter, which she accepted to forward to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry.

The open letter issued by the Media Office of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Pakistan highlights the plights of those arrested and  demands from the sincere Muslims in Pakistan, particularly from the people of influence within Pakistan’s judiciary, legal fraternity, security apparatus, and like institutions to speak up now on behalf of these sincere advocates of Khilafah, in order to end the severe persecution being inflicted upon them.

Many have suffered severe torture, including sleep deprivation, merciless beatings, forced mind-altering medication and electric shocks at the hands of security agencies. Some have now been imprisoned and some remain abducted. The authorities have repeatedly denied essential medical treatment and visitation rights to those in prison. And families, friends and well-wishers of both the imprisoned and abducted have been repeatedly threatened by the security agencies.

None of this is unexpected given the well-known reality of the Pakistani regime. As such, it is not to the regime as such that our message is directed but to the sincere Muslims in various positions of influence. It is them we remind of their duty as Muslims and their inevitable accountability in from of Allah, the Exalted.

“Incline not to the oppressors, lest the Fire cease you, and you have no protectors save Allah, and you shall not be supported (if you do so).” (Hud: 113)
